Why we measure in eighths of an inch
Top, middle, and bottom widths — always order on the smallest — so your shade fits the frame, not the average.
Windows are rarely perfectly square. Ordering on an average width is how shades bind, bow, or leave light gaps. We measure to the nearest eighth so the hardware and fabric track cleanly.
The three-width rule
For inside mounts, record top, middle, and bottom widths, plus height. We order on the smallest width — the only way a shade stays flush without scraping the jamb.
- Use a rigid metal tape (cloth tapes stretch).
- Measure each width at the deepest recess of the frame.
- Round to the nearest eighth and enter all three in checkout.
- Confirm the smallest-width notice before adding to cart.
